1.Despite improvements in wash aids, the single product approach has not helped in controlling bleaching costs in most mills. 2.Changing the way we think about "wash aids" by splitting organic and inorganic washing can provide significant cost savings to mills. 3.Combination wash aid programs can result in a variety of benefits, including: 4.Large cost savings in commodity bleaching chemical savings 5.Improved pulp quality and reduction of off-grade paper due to pitch issues or low brightness 6.Reduced destruction of cellulose due to less aggressive bleaching process (i.e. "shrink") 7.Significant silicone/oil carryover reduction, as measured by PDMS/extractives.
