Pictures.-A Christmas card, post card, calendar, or like article of stationery is formed with a movable portion, which on being actuated causes reed tongues to sound musical notes, preferably in imitation of chiming bells. The outside of the card may be printed with an appropriate picture, as of a bell-ringer. In one form, the front portion a of the card is hinged, as shown, to the back portion b, which contains a recess c, in which a sliding piece d works. A thumb portion d1 is provided on the sliding piece d, which is preferably of metal and carries spurs h1, h2 twisted so as to depress and raise the fixed reed tongues g alternately. The spurs h1, h2 may be formed integral with the piece d, but are preferably formed on the separate plate. The position of the spurs and reeds may be interchanged, and in a modified form a rotating piece may carry similar spurs to actuate reeds arranged around a circular card. The rotating piece may be actuated by a knob or by a belt and pulley.
