Brackets; screens.-Relates to an appliance or fittings for use in connexion with mantelpieces and like supports as a bath-tub screen, fire-screen, draught screen, clothes-horse, or for other purposes. A rod 1A which may be of brass or flexible steel is socketed by means of bayonet-joints A in tubes B, which are held by tubular parts 3 of plates 2A pivoted at D on the underside of a mantelshelf. The rod is maintained in an horizontal position by the ends of the tubes which engage the underside of the shelf, or a pivoted latch may be employed for this purpose. Alternative methods of securing the ends of the rods are shown in Figs. 6 and 7, in which rotatable joints formed of screwed tubular parts L, M and N, P are secured to the edge of the shelf or the face of the mantelpiece. The arrangement may be employed for hanging clothes, or may be detached and secured to bedposts by means of the plates 2A and . employed as a mosquito-curtain suspender.
