Gymnastic apparatus.- A physical development apparatus, for increasing the height of a person and for generally strengthening the body and muscles, consists of a body belt h attached by cords i to a base-board b, and a head-holding device comprising a bow-shaped frame c and flexible straps d, which is supported by a cable e passing round a winding-device g carried by a frame a. The apparatus is provided with a measuring-device k, and with any suitable elastic or other exercising-apparatus f provided with hand-grips and foot-straps, which may be fitted to any part of the frame a or base b, or to an additional fixing such as j. In a more simple form of the apparatus, the cord supporting the head - holding device passes round pulleys on the frame a and is connected to the body belt. The length of the cord can be adjusted as desired. In a modification, the belt is replaced by clamps carried by curved arms adjustably secured to a rack on the frame a. Another modification, designed for portability, consists merely of a head-holding device connected by an adjustable rod to a socket at the back of an ordinary body belt.
