Cam mechanism.-A device for producing downward pressure on an additional wheel of a vehicle for the purpose of preventing side - slip consists of two indented disks c, d. The lower half of the disk c is attached to the fork carryiog the additional wheel, while the upper part of the disk d is attached to the vehicle body by four bolts, springs k being interposed. This part is further prevented from turning by the projections shown, which engage grooves in the carrying-brackets. The upper half of the disk c and the lower half of the disk d are formed in one piece, which is rotated by means of a wire m fixed in a groove by two staples n. One end of the rope is fixed to a lever on the driver's platform, while the other is attached to a spring p which closes the disks when the lever is released. In some cases, only one split disk need be used.
