6592. Egger, H. March 19. Conduits; insulation.-Relates to a flexible leather for lining electric conduits and for making electrically-insulating gloves, boots, and other clothing. During a fat tanning process, a mixture of colophony, shellac, paraffin oil, linseed-oil varnish, and turpentine in stated proportions is added to the leather at a temperature of about 50‹ C. The leather is then beaten for six hours, is dried at a temperature between 300 C. and 40‹ C., and is smeared with the above composition, to which additional paraffin has been added. It is finally beaten until it reaches a temperature. of 40‹ C. and is dried. For very high voltages, and especially for gloves which must be flexible, two layers are united with a hair and flesh side in contact.
