Hauling-sheaves.-The tailing drum or "spunney " wheel " of an underground endless-chain haulage system is enclosed in a casing B surrounded by a metal strap or band D provided at one end with a shackled. To the other end is pivoted a bar E, which has slots e corresponding in shape with the links of the chain and through which the chain passes. The bar E, which may be made in two pieces, is provided with handles e' by which it is held in such a position that the chain may pass freely through the slots e, but is locked when the bar is released.
