11,006. Lealand, A. May 11. Measured quantities, delivering.-Relates to detail improvements on the type of bottling machine described in Specification No. 12,768, A.D. 1906. According to the present invention, the valves of the measuring-vesse's are external to the vessels, and in one form consist of disks s with separate seating rings s1, Figs. 2, 4, and 6. Each valve is mounted on a spindle s' fitting loosely in a valve lever t, a spring s' being placed between the valve and the lever. All the valve levers of each transverse row of measuring-vessels are supported on a transverse shaft t1, all of which transverse shafts are coupled by links u to rods u1 running along each nest of measuring-vessels, which rods are in turn coupled to each other, while the end rod is connected to a lever u2 fixed on a transverse shaft u3, on which an operating-lever u, Fig. 1, is mounted. In this way the whole of the valves are operated simultaneously. In a modification of the valve mechanism, sliding plate valves, Fig. 10, are employed, each valve adapted to control either a row or a nest of measuring-vessels. Each plate is supported on a lower plate d, and springs d2 are provided to press the valves against the ends of the measuring-vessels. Removable guards x, Fig. 4, and e, Fig. 6, respectively are provided to prevent the jam from splashing and to catch any drip from the valve mechanism. To enable each nest of measuring-vessels to be removed, and replaced by others of different capacity, the rods u1 may be uncoupled, and band holes w3 are provided to enable the vessels to be lifted out of, or placed in, position. The edges of the plates r, which carry the measuring-vessels, are beaded to fit into channels r5, Fig. 9, supported by the frame q so as to form sealed joints. A pivoted scraper j1, Fig. 1, is provided in connexion with the inclined conduit along which the jam runs to the measuring-vessels. The conduit frame may be suspended from rods or arms f depending from the ceiling, and the inclination may be varied by turn-buckles f. According to the Provisional Specification, the capacity of the measuring-vessels may be varied slightly by telescopic tubes mounted on brackets in the vessels.
