Loading and unloading; conveyers.-For conveying coal from the working face of a mine to the tubs or trams, a slide or trough is oscillatingly suspended from a rigid frame which can be moved transversely as the face advances. The frame comprises angleirons or beams w which are connected by cross members and to which vertical members s are fixed. On these vertical members are arranged axles or other suspending means for the swinging trough. The ordinary two-part adjustable props b are arranged between the trough and the working face. When the colliery is worked out in proximity to the frame, the props between it and the face are taken away, the transverse movement is effected, and the props are replaced behind the frame. The engine for effecting t h i s may be mounted on the frame or may remain stationary on the floor. Rolls or the like for facilitating the movement of the frame may be employed.
