28,082. Battiscombe, C. A., and Commin, F. J. Dec. 20. Storm. water, separating.-Excess of water passes over weirs to a separate conduit. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the normal flow takes place over the flanges 2a into the inner trough 3 and thence to the outlet 4, the aperture of which is restricted by a depending vane 10 and may be varied by means of an adjustable weir 9 ; but when the flow is abnormally great, the trough 3 overflows into an outer trough 1 and passes by an outlet 6 to a special conduit. A series of such apparatus may be used when necessary. A second arrangement is shown in plan in Fig. 6, and in transverse section in Fig. 5. The normal flow passes along channels 5 into troughs 3, and thence over the walls of the trough 11 to the outlet 4. Any excess passes over weirs 3a to a special conduit below.
