Mounting and securing drums on shafts.- The ends of the tin rollers or driving-drums of mules and other spinning and twisting machines &c. are pro. vided with split elastic hubs by which they are secured to the shaft. The hub b, Figs. 1 and 2, has one or more pairs of side lugs d, which are connected by screws f so that the hub acts as a clamping-band. The weight of the lugs is balanced by recesses i along the sides of the slit c, and weight of the screws which have the heads and points hollowed out is balanced by recesses r in the lugs. The hub may be split on two sides, in which case the lugs and screws on the two sides balance each other. Holes g are provided in the tin roller for the insertion of the spanner.
