Kinematographs.-A means for indicating want of synchronism between a phonograph and kinematograph consists of a disk 4 carrying two metal segments 7, 8, rotated in a clockwise direction by a worm 3 and flexible shaft 1 from the kinematograph, and a contact spring 6 also rotated in the same direction in an uninterrupted step-by-step movement by the phonograph shaft 13 completing an electric circuit between a cam 15 and spring 16 at each revolution. This energizes a magnet 12, which oscillates its armature 11, and, by means of a pawl 10 and a ratchet-wheel 9 attached to a sleeve 5 carrying the contact spring 6, rotates this spring. If the kinematograph or phonograph gets out of synchronism, the spring 6 contacts with one of the segments 7, 8, and energizes a magnet 24 or 25, so that the armature 27 moves to right or left and gives a signal at an opening 32 in the cover 31, or, in a modification, rings one or other of two differently toned electric bells.
