Current and energy meters.-A dash-pot for an indicating or recording ammeter, volt - meter, watt-meter, or other instrument, has a looselyfitting piston b provided with short studs c to prevent clinging to the cylinder a, and with slots or holes which can be covered to a greater or less extent by a shutter i with extensions to permit adjustment. The time - lag may thus be varied and may be indicated by markings on the piston b corresponding to various positions of the shutter i. A comparatively thin oil is used for the damping- fluid to allow the pointer or recording-arm g to show small variations. The piston and dash-pot may be of circular, rectangular, or other form.
