Toxines and anti-toxines. -An inoculating- medium conferring immunity against swine fever is obtained from the organs or muscles of an infected animal. The tissues are freed from blood and then extracted by pressure or by treatment with suitable extracting-agents. The organs or the extracts are freed from living germs by treatment with a disinfectant, such as chloroform or toluol. An anti-toxin mav be obtained by injecting the extract thus obtained into animals of other species, such as horses, goats, &c., the blood serum being taken in the usual way.
