[Cognate Application No. 12,358, A.D. 1909, dated May 25.] Conveyers.-Relates to endless carriers for a device for separating potatoes and other root crops from earth and weeds in potato diggers and analogous machines. To pre. vent the potatoes from rolling down the carrier D, strips of canvas 0, Fig. 6, or other material are attached to laths N fixed at a uniform distance on the carrier D, and on the upper surface form hollows in which the potatoes &c, rest. On the lower surface of the carrier, the strips 0 hang vertically ; any adbering earth is scraped off by stationary wires Q located close to the carrier. In one modification, a continuous canvas strip is attached at uniform intervals to laths N. In another modification, the carrier is made with sidechains T, Fig. 8, passing over sprockets P and is provided with straight cross-bars U to which strips of canvas &c. are attached Cranked bars V are mounted alternately with the cross-bars U in the chains T. In a further modification, a mass of loosely-hanging filaments or fibres is attached to the carrier.
