Reel and endless-web apparatus; rotary apparatus.-An indicator for railway or tramway cars engages an arm on the track at each station, and so displays the name of the next station. Polygonal drums 16, 17 carry an endless chain L containing a station name-plate in each link for display at a window 9, and the shaft 3 of the drum 16 bears a star-wheel 10 capable of being rotated by a stationary arm 12.. A spring detent 23 and notched disk 24 keyed to the shaft 3 prevent overrunning when the notices are being changed. The Provisional Specification describes also the application of the station names to prismatic drums, with or without tablets keyed to their faces, and optionally ratchet-driven; or to endless bands on cylindrical drums; or to disks divided into sectors.
