Combinations of interdependent valves. - In apparatus for discharging ashes from ships, two automatic valves 32, 33, Fig. 8, are operated at two different predetermined pressures by reason of the difference in loading of the two springs 40, 41. When pressure is supplied underneath the valves, the passages 46 are opened to admit pressure water to the apparatus. The springs are regulated to allow the valve 32 to act before the valve 33. If the spring 40 breaks, the stem 36 is blown out and a passage 47 is opened to waste.
