摘要
27,527. Sch³tt, C. Nov. 26. Irrigation, agricultural.-The root-stocks of trees are irrigated and aerated by means of inclined channels formed in the soil by layers of broken stones and by clay or concrete tiles of the shapes shown in cross-section in Figs. 5 and 6. Fig. 1 shows the arrangement for two rows of trees. Branch channels e lead downwards to the roots from a main channel b, which communicates with the atmosphere through gullies c and gratings d in the pavement a. Fig. 5 shows the form of tile usually employed, and Fig. 6 a form used in sloping ground. The tiles are connected by sleeves or flanges g and are provided with flanges f resting on a layer of stones h. Water is poured into the gullies c and oozes out through the layer of stones. The tangential flange i prevents escape of water and air down the slope. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement of channels b, e, l for an old tree k.
