29,770. Robinson, G. E. Dec. 20. [Cognate Application, 2601/10.] . Tobacco-pipe filling apparatus.-A tobaccopipe filler is combined with a receptacle for containing the cartridges. In one form, the cartridge cylinder of the filler is made in two parts c, c1, Fig. 1, fixed respectively to the box and the lid. The plunger D of the known kind is provided with a slot f to clear the connecting portions of the filler and receptacle, the filler having a cylindrical part d which serves as a guide to, and, with the addition of a disk, may serve as a stop for, the plunger, which, when pressed home, locks the receptacle. In another form, the receptacle comprises two series of half cylinders, each series being hinged as shown in Fig. 6. A sliding lid or sheath A1 is provided, and any one cylinder may be brought under the cylinder containing the plunger, which slides in a cork bush and may be placed in any cylinder. The inside of the filler surface is roughened to retain the cartridge case. If the filler cylinder is inside the receptacle, apertures are made in the receptacle for the passage of the plunger.
