Tread projecfions and surfaces. -Tyre treads are provided with studs comprising short lengths A of metal tubing, of cylindrical, conical, or other suitable form, which are threaded externally and filled with pieces of rope, wood, vegetable fibre, wire, rubber, or other material B. The filling of the studs may be cemented or otherwise fixed therein, and may be treated with a preserving, binding, or sticky material. The studs project from, or are flush with, or recessed in the tyre, and are inserted in holes of smaller size, so that the rubber is compressed around them.
