Improvements in Means for Quickly Levelling Instruments or Apparatus, such as Plane Tables, Surveyors' Levels or Photographic Cameras, that are Mounted and Used on Tripods or Stands.
13,876. Hollick, A. J. June 8. Levelling - heads. - In levelling-heads of the kind comprising two relatively rotatable wedgeshaped bodies 1, 2 having their inclined faces in contact, the bodies are secured together by one or more metal strips 5 fitting into grooves 4 in the inclined faces. Similar grooves and strips are provided to secure the levelling-head to the stand 7 and to the instrument-carrying table 8. The strips 5 generally have a curvature different from that of the grooves; but the curvatures may be the same, in which case the strips may be replaced by a series of balls. In a modification, a series of studs or guides arranged circularly on one face engages with a groove on the other.
