Mineral oils and tars, distilling.- In a plant for distilling under high vacuum, separate pumps are used for withdrawing the distillates and the uncondensed gases. The vapours from a still D pass in succession through air-cooled dephlegmators A, B, a surface condenser K, and a high-level condenser C. The uncondensed gases are evacuated by a dry air-pump P. The distillates after passage through coolers O when necessary, are led to collecting-vessels S, and are withdrawn by separate low-level pumps p discharging to a receiver E. The suction pipes r4 are of such length, say four metres, as to allow the use of pumps of small suction capacity.
