Hand-propelled vehicles.-A trolly for transferring hospital patients from one place to another consists of a wheeled frame carrying a platform or tray, which can be tilted about a longitudinal axis until its edge is at a level enabling the patient to be slid off the operating- table, bed, &c. without lifting. The trolly comprises a tubular frame 1, 2, 3 mounted upon castor wheels 4, which are preferably rubbertyred. The legs 1, 2 support a longitudinal member 6, about which a rectangular frame 7, carried by inclined members 9, is pivoted, the member 6 being nearer to the back than to the front. The front legs 2 of the trolly are bent as shown to enable them to extend beneath a bed, on to which the frame 7 may then be tilted. The frame 7 carries a transversely dished supporting-surface 8 of aluminium, zinc, or other metal, and is tilted by gearing connected to its rear edge. The gearing may consist of a rack 11 passing through a box 13 pivoted about a longitudinal spindle 14 which carries a worm-wheel adapted to turn a pinion 12 engaging the rack 11. The legs 1, 2 may be made telescopic. According to the Provisional Specification, a screw and rocking nut may be used for tilting the platform instead of a rack and pinion.
