Printing - surfaces. - A typeholder for ticketprinting and other machines, especially adapted for use in coin - freed delivery machines such as described in Specification 2441/95, [Class 27, Coin-freed apparatus &c.], is provided with a resilient backing e for the types d, which are of metal and mounted in separate cells c, and held against the backing preferably by a spring- controlled latch g engaging notches h in the type. The holder is preferably in the form of a roller having a slide f1 by which the backing e is kept in place, and grooves in which the springs which hold the latch g in place, work. To release the type, a cranked pointed lever o engages holes q in the latch and withdraws it from engagement with the type. In some cases, each type may have a separate backing- piece attached thereto.
