March 30 Poultry coops; rearing-appliances.-A brooder coop a, Fig. 5, is divided into two parts by a cardboard partition a5 with an opening a6, and has a glazed front a2 with a hinged door a3. In the part with the door a3 is placed a brooder box c, Fig. 2. The box c has three inner walls e of cardboard, leaving an air-space f covered at the top by pieces h, and is provided with a cover j adjustably fitted therein by the engagement of bolts o in the box frame with apertures p. The cover has sheets k, l, m. of fabric stretched across, and secured to, the framework, the space between the sheets l, m, being filled with wadding &c. The box c is also provided with a front opening having a curtain of felt &c. and adapted to be closed by a sliding perforated door. When the lid a1 of the coop a is supported by a stay b in an open position, a . sliding frame a', covered with muslin, waterproof fabric, &c., is provided as a cover.
