13,057. Pottinger, T. May 31. Granaries and corn-bins.-Grain is so distributed in a bin that the heavier particles lie against the sides and the lighter in the centre above the outlet orifice, with the object of ensuring an even quality of samples drawn from the bin. The distribution is effected by a conical or pyramidal surface 14, with or without projections 19, to which the grain is fed from a shoot 3 over an adjustable board 2 and hopper 11. The board 2 slides on a frame 4 and is fixed by screws 6. The frame is pivoted at 5 and the board can thus be placed at any angle and secured by a screw 7. From the base of the casing 1 the grain descends to the hopper 11 supported on slotted hangers, for vertical adjustment, secured between lock-nuts on horizontal screws attached to the hopper to allow lateral adjustment. The exact form of the cone &c. 14 depends upon the relative position of the inlet and outlet of the bin.
