Sept. 6 Staging, window; ladders.-Platforms c for window cleaners, painters, &c. are hinged on frames b pivoted to bars a having hooks a1, a2 to engage over two rungs of a ladder. The frames b are maintained in an horizontal position by perforated pivoted stay-bars d, to which are detachably secured the ends of cross-bars a3 secured to the lower ends of the bars a. Folding guards consisting of pivoted rails e, e1, e2 and detachable stay-rods e2 are pivoted to the frames b. For staging supported by window sills, the bars a are formed with hooks a1 to engage over the sills, and the frame b is strutted by bars a4 engaging the wall and secured by pins b2 in holes b' in the frame-bars.
