22,862. Holmes, S. Oct. 17. Cuttling; rigging; winding. - A fabric is creased and e i the r plaited down or lapped by the apparatus shown in Fig. 2. Either of the latter operations may be carried out without the creasing. The fabric is passed over a table a part of the width of which may be inclined and is doubled over one or more guides k, and is then fed between rollers b2, b1, the latter of which is supported in adjustable bearings. The rollers are driven by suitable gear and are coupled by friction or toothed gearing. The fabric may then pass to the plaiting - rods h carried on the arms g which are rocked by links pivoted to a crank i. The links j may alternatively be operated from pins on the gear-wheels connecting the rollers b1, b2. The fabric passes to the lapping-bars l over guide rollers r. The bars l are driven by belt from the roller b2. Suitable clutches and pulleys are provided to drive the parts of the machine as required.
