Regulating. - A turbine-driven boiler-feed pump a has the steam supply to its turbine b regulated by a throttle g in a supply pipe e, the throttle being controlled from a float o located in the feed tank or in a pipe or well connected thereto. The float is carried by a lever frame p, q, r connected to a counterweighted lever m linked to the throttle. When the float falls to a predetermined level, the steam supply to the turbine is reduced sufficiently to prevent the pump from delivering water to the boiler, but not sufficiently to cause the shaft to pass through its critical velocity.
