887. Land, H. S. Jan. 11. Screwing; screwing die-heads; turning.-The turning and screwing device described in Specification 17,792/09 is modified in details. The die head is pivoted to the body of the toolholder at a', and a spring catch serves to lock it in either the operative or the inoperative position. The stop for retaining the dies in the closed position is made double to provide for a roughing and a finishing cut. The threaddetermining stop p3 is axially adjustable in a radially adjustable arm p1. The revoluble centre rest for the stock has a larger ball race as shown at k and the bush is interchangeable for different stock sections by means of a bayonet-joint j1. The tools are clamped in position, by end screws d1 and top screws d2, in holders b adjustable laterally on ways carried by the adjustable slides c. The control lever f is connected to the cam e which concentrically adjusts the slides by pins f2, e2. An ending-up cutter is mounted in the shank of the toolholder and comprises semi-cylindrical tools h1 dowelled together. The stop for gauging the stock feed is pivoted to the body of the toolholder instead of to the die head.
