Fluid-pressure.-In compressed-air or vacuum brakes of railway trains in which an auxiliary valve is used to connect a supplementary reservoir to the brake cylinder in emergency applications, the auxiliary valve comprises a piston h, which communicates at its upper side with the passage e of the triple valve a by a pipe f, and at its lower side with a supplementary reservoir d by a passage i and with the brake cylinder l by a pipe k. The piston h is formed with a feed-groove o, through which the reservoir d is charged. During service applications, the piston h is not moved, but in emergency applications the passage c in the triple valve is connected to the brake-cylinder port m, and owing to the fall in pressure in the pipe f, the valve h is raised, and the brake cylinder is supplied from the reservoir d as well as from the auxiliary reservoir b.
