21,233. Thomas, E. L., and Holroyd, J. Sept. 18. Turning.-The surfacing, sliding, and screwcutting motions of lathes are interlocked so that only one can be in operation at a time. Clutches H, Q control the sliding and surfacing motions and are operated by a lever pivoted at M and connected to a rod J. A block on this rod has a hole Z to receive a rod which is raised when the nut is engaged with the lead-screw.
