Improvements in the Control of Feed Water to Water Heaters.

Feed-water, controlling.-The passage of feedwater from the supply pipe 41 to the pipe 43 leading to the lower part of a boiler is controlled by a sliding valve 45 situated outside the heater shell 3, and actuated by an arm on a spindle 17 connected to a float 28 by a hollow arm 29. The spindle 17 is hollow and open to the air at the outer end, and forms with the arm 29 a means for draining the float. Stuffing-boxes &c. are provided where necessary, and the inner end of the spindle 17 is supported on a coned pivot.
