Rotary filters. - A drum filter for use in connexion with the extraction of precious metals &c. is built up of interchangeable self - contained sections or trays extending the length of the drum and covered with filter cloth which laps over the edges of each tray. Each tray C has a wooden rim by means of which it is bolted to angle-irons which form the frame of the drum. The drum is supported and driven by means of hollow spokes A, those at one end serving also for the suctional discharge of the filtered liquid and those at the other for the supply of compressed air, the spokes being connected to sources of vacuum and compressed air by means of passages N in the trunnions f, F, respectively. The bottom of each tray is made to slope towards the discharge end which may be provided with an additional pipe a for drainage.
