Enamels.-Opaquing-agents for white enamels consist of highly basic compounds or complexes of aluminium, tin, titanium, or zirconium, containing small proportions of the radicles of acids not refractory to heat. According to one process. the opaquing-agents are obtained by treating alkali compounds of the above metals with weak acids such as organic acids, part of the alkali salt of the acid used being allowed to remain in the reaction product. Another process consists in heating salts of the above metals, to expel part of the acid radicles.
