Handles of metallic jugs, tea and coffee pots, saucepans, &c. are made of metal and have solid attachment ends or terminal fittings consisting of long tapering and spread-out fingers or branches c1, Fig. 3. These branches, which may be from two to four in number at each end of the handle, are soldered or otherwise attached at their smaller ends to the wall of the vessel, their other ends converging into a common shank c5 soldered into the hollow handle. By this construction, overheating of the handle is prevented. The shanks c5 may have an opening c6, Fig. 5, leading from the space between the fingers c1 to the inside, of the handle. In the case of solid or " wire " handles, the terminals are made integral with the body of the handle.
