Sewing - machines; double - loop stitching; chain-stitching.-A looper is mounted to slide laterally upon and oscillate about a fixed shaft, and is actuated by means of a pin and a socket in which the pin slides, these parts being fixed obliquely one upon the looper-carrier and the other upon the strap of the actuating-eccentric. In the construction shown, a loopercarrier 28 is mounted upon a shaft 26, and to it a pin 21 is secured which slides in a socket 19 obliquely cut in a strap 18 of an eccentric 17. The looper is bowed at 32, Fig. 5, and the looper-thread passes from an eye 35 on the right-hand side of the looper-heel, across the bowed portion, and enters the eye 33 from the left-hand side.
