Torpedo nets. - Mine-sweeping and other protecting nets are made in sections 1, 2, two sets of which are applied overlapping to the bows of a ship 5. The Figure shows one part of the apparatus, the other part being symmetrical. The upper run 3 of each section is connected to the outer ends of booms 4 carried by the hull, while the lower run 6 is attached to the lower ends of arms 7 pivoted at 9 to the booms 4. The net sections are shifted from the outboard or operative position indicated, into the inboard or non- operative position by the rope connexions shown.
