摘要
22,821. Ravier, S. L. Nov. 29, 1913, [Convention date]. Sea and retaining walls; piling.-Retaining- walls, quays, jetties, &c. are built of a wall of piles, plates, &c. a, Fig. 5, each section of which is held in position either (1) by means of a single anchor plate and stay, the plate being lower than the stay, or (2) by means of a number of such plates and stays, the length of the stays increasing with the height of the point at which they are connected to the wall. The plates and stays are adapted to fall freely on to the soil and are subsequently embedded. As shown in the case of an horizontal stay, b3, Fig. 5, the plate c3 may be fixed at an angle to the stay. The pile members may be alined. as shown in Figs. 8 and 9 respectively, either by means of steel jaws or by members arranged at two or more points in their height. The stays b, Fig. 6, may be attached to the piles under water by guiding their upper ends down wires t attached to the piles, the stays, by means of bars m, engaging a pair of hooks q or by hooks or eyes engaging with eyes or hooks respectively upon the piles. The space behind the wall may be consolidated in layers, pressure being first applied at some distance from the wall. Specification 22,812/13 is referred to.
