Braiding - machines.-A machine for braiding wire, ropes, cables, hose, &c. comprises an horizontal revoluble plate a provided with peripheral recesses, pockets, &c. b adapted to receive shuttles c which are retained by a guard ring p, a lower horizontal revoluble plate d carrying spools e, and a stationary cam-plate n formed with projections n2 and recesses n' adapted to deflect the threads e1 of the spools e to one side or the other of the shuttles c. The plate d is driven by a belt passing round a pulley h, and drives the plate a in the reverse direction through gearing m, i, l. Light springs q or rollers r are provided on the plate a to prevent jamming of the shuttles. In a modification, a second stationary cam-plate is disposed within the plate n and forms therewith a race for the threads e1. The ring p is provided with a door w1 for removal of the shuttles c.
