Extracting.-Titaniferous iron ores are reduced by blowing reducing-gases into or over a molten mass of ore at a temperature rising from 1600 to over 2000‹ C. The iron, which is reduced first, becomes refined or converted into steel by the titanium, which is reduced at temperatures exceeding 2000‹ C.
