Sterilization and treatment of contents, designed to permit; contents, delivering.-A sterilizer, cooking- utensil, or other treatment chamber B, Figs. 1 and 2, is provided with a lid L, from which a tray C for the articles to be treated is suspended by means of pivots P carried by arms S and engaging slots V in the tray. Internal supports D carry the tray when the lid is closed. The lid, when lifted, raises the tray C and may then be turned so that the tray is suspended above the inverted lid. Fig. 7 shows a modification having a hinged lid, in which pivots on the tray C engage slots V on the arms S. Recesses R in the slots V prevent the tray from dropping into contact with the lid when fully opened. Fig. 8 shows a similar construction applied to a non-hinged lid. In other modifications, the slots V in the tray or arms are replaced by metal plates acting as guides for the pivots P, or by wires passing through holes in the arms S ; or the slots may be dispensed with, and fixed pivots employed. The lids may be perforated or replaced by an equivalent framework.
