Boat raising, lowering, and disengaging gear; davits.-A boat is suspended from a single davit by disengaging-gear d attached to an athwartship sling c, preferably secured by straps to the keel, and fore-and-aft stays e having slip hooks e1 at their lower ends. The davit is slued by shafts s, s1 and gearing j, j5, Fig. 7, which is turned through a worm-wheel m1 and a driving-shaft l1 serving alternatively to drive the drum h on which the boatlifting rope f is wound.
