A Process for the Extraction of Borax from Mixtures Containing Boric Acid or Borax and Sodium Sulphate.

Borax is obtained from mixtures of borax or boric acid and sodium sulphate by dissolving the material, adding soda if necessary, and evaporating the nearly saturated solution at its boiling-point until most of the sodium sulphate has separated out. The solution is then cooled, preferably to 34 DEG C., to crystallise the borax.
