108,329. Barton, B. C. May 3, 1916. Fatty oils, extracting by pressure. - An extrusion press, Fig 1, for expressing oil consists of a stationary drum formed of upper and lower plates A, A1, having piles of plates B between them so arranged as to form radial passages C, shown in plan in Fig. 2, the inner end of each pile being formed as a tooth a1, together with a rotating box formed of upper and lower plates D, D', and containing loose toothed wheels F1, the teeth of which mesh with the teeth a1 and compress the material into the radial passages C. The material is fed to the box by a hopper d, d' fitted with a separately-actuated screw H1. Blocks G guide the material to the points at which pressure is applied. A rotating table M fitted with knives M' receive the extruded material; a stationary device P removes the material from the table. The passages C may be constricted at their outer ends by means of blocks b2 which are fitted to the plates B. Loose side pieces b3, b4 secured by screws may also be used. The compressed material may be given any desired form by suitably shaping the parts b2, b3, b4. Drainage holes b with inclined sides b1, Fig. 2, are provided to lead expressed liquids to a trough K below the plate A1. The wheels F and blocks G may be similarly constructed for drainage purposes. A steam chamber L is provided for heating purposes. Steam may be blown through the holes b to clear them.
