Scrap processes. - High-speed-steel scrap is heated in graphite crucibles to about 1200‹ C., adding ferrocyanide or ferricyanide of potassium, raising the temperature to about 1800‹ C., and then casting. A small extra quantity of ferrocyanide, with or without the addition of barium or other suitable chloride which facilitates the formation of slag, may be added before casting.
