Litters and hand-carried vehicles.- A stretcher, camp cot, or the like has side members 1, 2, 3, 4 constructed as parallel strutted beams hingejointed at 10 and connected by jointed transverse bars 12, 13 so as to constitute a framework adapted to fold as indicated in Fig. 2. Each side member comprises upper and lower metallic tubes 1, 5 connected by struts 9. Additional members 15 may be provided to increase the lateral stability. The adjacent ends of the members 5, 15 socket together in the unfolded position. The canvas is laced or otherwise attached to the lower members 1, 2, 3, 4 and is buckled to the transverse bars 12, 13 so that the weight tends to extend these bars.
