Charges, agitating.-Stirring devices for mechanical ruasting- furnaces with radial arms extending from a central vertical shaft are inserted in longitudinal grooves in the arms and constructed so that they slope to form an obtuse angle with the furnace bottom towards the front, and are inclined also to the axes of the arm as shown. The blade a may be plane, as shown, bent, or curved. The head b fits into the groove in the arm.
