Rotary type.-Apparatus for trimming the edges of articles of rubber, such as heel pads, soles, and tips for boots, consists of a rapidly rotating toothed cutter D working in conjunction with a stationary plate E having a cutting- edge at e. The article is placed on the plate E with its edge under the edge of a rotary guide G and is traversed across the face of the rotary cutter; the waste portions are removed by the shearing action between the cuting members. The teeth of the rotary cutter are preferably helical or double helical. The guide G works in ball bearings in a bracket H, K; it is hollowed below to afford space for the rotary cutter.
