Protectors, construction of. -A rubber sole, heel, or combined sole and heel is provided with a marginal recess 2 to receive a leather or like strip 3, the outer edge 4 of which is inclined to overhang the edge 5 of the sole &c. so as to hold this edge firmly against the shoe when the securing-nails &c. are driven through the strip.
